Experience Spain as a living classroom where cultures have met, shaped one another, and left lasting legacies. Travel from the medieval streets of Toledo to the architectural wonders of Granada and the vibrant capital of Madrid while exploring the rich interactions of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish traditions.
Through guided tours, historic sites, and immersive cultural experiences, including: the Alhambra, a flamenco performance, a visit to Madrid’s bustling markets, and a hands-on olive grove tour with tasting – you’ll engage directly with Spain’s history, traditions, and daily life.
Build global awareness, expand your perspective, and experience one of Europe’s most dynamic countries firsthand.

Tentative Itinerary

Day 1 – Departure – Friday, March 5

  • Depart Home for Madrid, Spain

Day 2 – Madrid/Toledo – Saturday, March 6

  • Arrive in Madrid, Spain
  • Private Airport Transfer to Toledo (approximately 1h 30 min)
  • Hotel check-in, Refresh & Relax
  • Toledo Walking Tour – A guided introduction to the capital’s historic center, including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and the Royal Palace district.
  • Welcome Dinner – Authentic dinner with a wide variety of menu options

Day 3 – Toledo – Sunday, March 7

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Alcazar of Toledo – This architectural masterpiece, once a 10th-century fortress, now houses the Museum of the Army as well as a regional library.
  • Lunch Break (not included)
  • Free afternoon in Toledo. Suggested:
    • Synagogue of El Tránsito & Sephardic Museum – A beautifully preserved Mudéjar synagogue offering a moving insight into Jewish life in medieval Spain.
    • Mosque of Cristo de la Luz – A small but exquisite 10th‑century mosque, one of the best surviving examples of Islamic architecture in Toledo.
  • Dinner (not included)
  • Evening visit to Toledo Cathedral – The cathedral is well-known for its magnificent medieval Gothic architecture, as well as the famous artwork inside, including paintings by Goya, Raphael, Titian and Caravaggio.

Day 4 – Toledo – Monday, March 8

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing Jewish Quarter Walk – A quiet, atmospheric area of narrow medieval streets that once hosted one of Spain’s most important Sephardic communities.
  • Lunch Break (not included)
  • Private transfer to Granada (approx 4 hours)
  • Stop en route Windmills & Castillo de Consuegra – Iconic La Mancha windmills and a medieval hilltop castle offering panoramic views and a deep dive into Don Quixote’s landscape.
  • Continue to Granada
  • Hotel check-in, Refresh & Relax

Day 5 – Granada – Tuesday, March 9

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Granada Historical Walking Tour – A guided exploration through Granada’s historic core, tracing the city’s layered past from its Moorish origins to its Christian Renaissance.
  • Lunch Break (Lunch not included)
  • Free afternoon in Granada
  • Flamenco show – A powerful live performance showcasing the emotional depth of Andalusian flamenco through music, dance, and guitar.

Day 6 – Granada – Wednesday, March 10

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Alhambra Visit – A symbol of the splendor of Islamic art and architecture in Spain, the Alhambra stands as an invaluable legacy shaped by Arab, Jewish and Christian influences. The visit explores its palaces, courtyards and defensive structures, offering insight into the cultural layers that defined medieval Granada and continue to shape its identity today.
  • Free time in Granada

Day 7 – Granada/Madrid – Thursday, March 11

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Olive Oil Grove Visit half day – A half‑day visit introducing the culture of extra virgin olive oil. The experience includes a guided walk through the olive groves, a look at traditional and modern production methods, and a professional tasting of Omed oils to explore the basics of sensory analysis.
  • Lunch Break (Lunch not included)
  • Train Transfer to Madrid (approx 4 hours)

Day 8 – Madrid – Friday, March 12

  • Breakfast & Day Briefing
  • Madrid Walking Tour – A guided introduction to the capital’s historic center, including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and the Royal Palace district.
  • Farewell Lunch at Mercado San Miguel – Mercado de San Miguel is Madrid’s iconic gourmet market, housed in a beautiful iron-and-glass structure. Inside, visitors can sample high‑quality tapas, fresh seafood, artisanal pastries, and regional specialties from across Spain in a lively, elegant atmosphere.
  • Free time in Madrid

Day 9 – Return – Saturday, March 13

  • Airport Transfer
  • Depart Madrid, Spain for home

A non-refundable deposit of $200 is required to reserve your spot. Payments must be paid to our Business Office and can be made

Scholarship Info

Davidson-Davie Scholarships: The Davidson-Davie study abroad scholarship application will open later in summer 2026 for the 2027 spring break programs.

Gilman Scholarship: If you receive a Pell grant, you are eligible to apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship which may cover up to the entire cost of the study abroad program. Keep an eye on the Gilman Scholarship info page (linked below) for deadlines. The next application opens mid-August 2026 & the deadline is Thursday, October 1, 2026. More information, including how to complete the Gilman Scholarship application.
