When are classes offered?
We offer our traditional CDL Class A courses 5 times per year.  They are typically offered in January, March, May, August and October. In addition to this, we offer CDL Class B and other type CDL courses at various times during the year.

Do you offer any weekend or evening classes?
Our CDL Class A program is taught from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. We occasionally have a night/weekend CDL Class B course. If you wish to be put on an interest list for evening/weekend class, please email tdt@davidsondavie.edu or call 336.249.8186, ext. 6337.

What are the requirements for the class?
You will need to have your Class A permit, DOT Physical and payment when you register.

Will I be able to drive using Davidson-Davie trucks or will I have to go to DMV?
You will be trained and tested at Davidson-Davie. Several of the instructors are certified third-party examiners with the NCDMV and are authorized to conduct your CDL tests. After successfully completing the course you will go to the DMV to have your license issued.

Will I be taught using a manual or automatic?
We train on both. You can elect to train and road test with an automatic or manual transmission.

Do you offer job placement?
We do not offer job placement, however, we do have different recruiters that come in and speak to the class at scheduled times.

Is the program covered by Financial Aid?
The program is not covered by financial aid. The Truck Driver Training program is approved for veterans’ educational benefits, but it does not meet the requirements for the federal Pell grant. Other agencies, such as WIOA and NC Works, support students entering this program. Check with external agencies for assistance or questions related to their requirements for financial assistance.

Can I use my VA benefits to pay for the class?
Yes, you may be able to use your VA benefits to pay for the class.

How old do I have to be to take the class?
You can take the class at 18 as long as you have passed the required test for the Class A permit. You will not be allowed to drive out of state until you are 21.

What are the hours for the class?
The hours for the class are typically Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

What is the refund policy? 
For questions regarding the DDCC refund policy, please visit www.davidsondavie.edu/refund-policy. Drug testing fees are non-refundable once a student is registered and sent for the drug screening test.
