Want summer camps to keep your elementary, middle or high school students active all summer long? Would you want your student engaged and inspired in hands-on activities that could spark an interest in science and technology, community leadership, sports, or the arts? If you answered YES to any of these questions, then we have a camp (or multiple camps) for you! With over 25 camp experiences for a variety of age groups, your camper will not only have a blast but learn along the way.
In order to fully register your camper, you will need to fill out the “Camper Info Form” by clicking the first button below and then click the second “Register & Pay For Camps” button.
Please register with your camper’s name and information.
*You do not have to complete any type of conduct training or set up any further accounts that you may get emailed about after registration.

All-day camps will require that students bring their lunches. We can also provide a safe environment for other lunch breaks should you choose two half-day (non-related) camps for your campers. You would need to email us to advise us of your desire for your child to remain on campus between camps.
We will provide light snacks/water during the camp experience.
We invite you to attend our Summer Camp Open House on May 2, 2024 from 6-7:30 p.m.
At this event, you can explore where your camper will be during the day as well as learn about the pickup and drop-off locations. The Davidson-Davie aquarium will be open and Sunset Slush will be attending.

Students will work with basketball coaches to develop new skills, reinforce fundamentals and learn how to work as a team.
Rising 1st-12th Graders | June 10-13 | 8 a.m.- noon
Historically, the bow has played a major role in various international societies and
civilizations and has recently been featured in books and films. This camp experience
will cover the basics of competitive archery including form, rules and training (including
strength training, which maximizes an athlete’s ability and safety). We’re excited to
bring the use of the bow to life and introduce your child to the sport of archery!
Rising 4th-9th Graders | June 17-20 | 8 a.m. - noon
Use your favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods! Introductory coding will also be taught through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft. Student projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students must own a Java version of Minecraft at home. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years.

Learn the art and history of one of the original modern Olympic sports – FENCING! This sports camp is geared for absolute beginners. Skill development, conditioning, footwork, blade work and tactics will be covered. A series of games and drills will teach the student the essentials of fencing. By week’s end, students should be able to fence in a bout.

Unlock the power of ROBLOX® Studio, the world creation tool used by real-world
ROBLOX® developers! Learn how to build 3D models and create an adventure in your

Has your teen shown interest in fashion design? In this camp, we will be exploring
components used to design clothing. We will explore fabric types, work on designing a
fabric of our own, learn about sketching designs and learn basic sewing machine skill.
Our main project of the week will include repurposing an old prom/wedding dress and
hosting a fashion show. This camp is for all future fashionistas out there!

Learn how to prepare a model for 3D printing and create a design portfolio to showcase your work! Do you have a fascination with fish? Are you amazed by amphibians? Captivated by
corals? Spend a day finding out what it takes to care for these delicate creatures at
Davidson-Davie’s Zoo and Aquarium facility. You’ll be a part of our laboratory operations as you help care for the Zoo and Aquarium
Science Program’s animal collection on campus. In just one day, we’ll discover hidden
features of water with scientific water quality testing, feed everything from the sharks to
anemones, provide enrichment through animal painting and even get “elbow deep” to
keep the animals healthy. Come get your feet wet as an aquarist for a day!
Rising 8th-12th Graders | July 31 | 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Explore the world of artificial intelligence to design fully interactive games and experiences using cutting-edge technology. This program combines artificial intelligence with coding to create an unforgettable learning adventure. Students will construct machine learning models that use image and text recognition within block-based coding software to build a portfolio of projects. Student-created projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Join us for a week of thrilling adventures. Activities include swimming, hiking, paddle boarding/kayaking and ropes course. Activities will be confirmed 1 week before camp. This is a high energy camp. Students will need to be able to swim and hike. In case of excessive rain, indoor activities will be utilized instead of outdoor activities.

Find your voice and leave your mark on the world! Whether you are six or sixty, it’s time
to start a career as the next YouTube star. Explore the variety of content and
personalities that exist on YouTube and how to find your own niche. Learn the Dos and
Don’ts of the platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-
camera presence, your own channel branding, and professional editing skills. Take
home a plan for launching your own channel with the content created in class! Student
projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with
friends and family. Students work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

“The Total Image” – Learn the latest trends in our beauty industry from the experience of one of our licensed cosmetology instructors. Campers will try some fantasy/special hair and makeup effects. Our camp sessions will be filled with team building activities that boost self-esteem and positivity. We want them to leave each day feeling confident and pampered!

Learn the art of moviemaking by doing! Campers become the scriptwriters, camera operators, lighting and set crew, film editors and MORE. Gaining insight into a variety
of career paths, they experience team building and collaboration to mention just a few of
the soft skill-sets practiced. If your student is interested in learning how to create and edit videos like a professional, this camp is for them!
Rising 6th-12th Graders | June 12-15 | 1-5 p.m.
Cloud gaming is the way of the future! Build games you can play everywhere and anywhere using a web-based development tool. Learn in-demand skills like programming events and coding controls for a touch screen or keyboard and mouse. Finish by personalizing levels and characters with your own design. Now you are ready to upload your games to the Black Rocket cloud arcade and play on any mobile device or computer. Games can easily be shared with friends and family!

Participants join in a welcoming environment to learn about themselves and the world around them, a basis of yoga. We will learn yoga postures and relaxing breathing techniques, all of them presented in a fun and age-appropriate way. We will also spend the day doing a mindfulness walk around the beautiful Davidson campus and complete creative projects that allow the participants to express themselves through art and writing.
This camp is suitable for anyone but especially those who may enjoy a less stimulating environment that offers time to process, reflect, and have fun with others.

Whether you want to be the next pro gamer, streamer, or gamecaster this course will teach you the basics to get started! No longer just a hobby, eSports is the fastest growing career for the next generation. Over 400 million people watched YouTube videos and Twitch streams of video game competitions this year alone! In this course, students will develop competitive game-play skills in Black Rocket’s new eSports App, learn how to produce commentary for live tournaments, use professional streaming
software, and most importantly practice online safety. Students will gain full access to the eSports App and a video of their class tournament with commentary. Videos will not be broadcast publicly but will be shared with all students in the class.

If you love games like Super Smash Bros™, you will love this class! Using professional development software, customize your own 2D brawler game and configure your own characters. Learn how to balance multiplayer gameplay by modifying variables & editing scripts. Then challenge your classmates to compete on the platform level you designed. There are so many fun and unique ways to use fiber in our world. In this camp, we will
explore some of the techniques used to create with fiber. We will learn how to hand
sew, dye fabric, the difference between crochet, knitting and loom knitting, felting and
how to use a sewing machine. Participants will be so interested in the hands on aspect
of camp, they won’t even realize they are learning life skills that are so important, like
sewing on a button and repurposing a T-shirt. Fun with fiber is full of possibilities.

Ages 8-14
Campers will learn how things are produced – from cars to the knobs on radios. We will learn about the different design and prototyping processes that products go through from original idea or concept to the finished product. We will also cover machining processes that are used to make these products, including manual machining, CNC machining and 3D printing. Participants will have hands-on activities to make projects of their own.

Do you love movies with exciting special effects, like The Avengers, Star Wars, or Harry Potter? Amaze your friends by swinging a lightsaber or blasting fire from your hands and becoming a master of the illusions used by Hollywood artists to create visual effects magic. Whether you want to enhance your YouTube videos or create a cool scene to amaze your friends; this class teaches the tools you need. Experiment with visual effects as you learn the dynamics of camera angles, editing, graphic layering, and sound effects. Then watch as your new creations take your channel content to the next level! Try this new version of a Black Rocket classic! This class allows you to develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design classes. Students will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling flow of gameplay, and story telling. Where is the feather quill that penned the famous music called “Ode to Joy”? Time to become an expert on Beethoven, his works, his contemporaries and his instruments as we open our days each week with a Brain Chase online escape room! We will be looking for the lost “Quill of Beethoven.
During our afternoon time together, it will be “hands-on” to sew, make pottery and enjoy music through dance!

Our final StormQuest adventure begins with our need to “Escape from Mt. Everest”. Was George Mallory really the first to summit Mt. Everest? To find out, we’ll need to recover his missing camera – and live to tell the tale! Learn more about the earth’s tallest mountain, the basics of orienteering and some of history’s bravest adventurers.
Our afternoons will be spent “in the woods”. Learn how to survive and thrive in the great outdoors! We will be learning skills that make the outdoors come alive with adventure.
Learn to make a fire, tie knots and make a shelter out of basic items – just for starters! Be prepared to go for a hike and know what to do when you encounter wildlife. We’ll even experience our own version of “orienteering”. It is sure to be a wonderful adventure!

This week, we plan to “Escape from the Smithsonian”!
Dinosaurs, gemstones, and whales…oh, my! This race through one of America’s most treasured museums will put your scientific knowledge to the test. Will you escape and catch the bad guys? You have to solve clues, complete STEM activities and problem solve to complete the escape by the end of the camp week! After lunch break, students will join the Davidson-Davie Zoo & Aquarium team for an up close learning experience in the zoo & aquarium lab on campus.

Visit “The Tomb of Nefertari” for your Brain Chase online adventure! Journey to Egypt in a perilous quest to recover the missing Senet board of Queen Nefertari! You’ll travel from a ransacked archive room to the busy streets of Cairo, then deep into the tombs of
Egypt’s ancient rulers. It’s a race against time to escape with the prize!
During the afternoon, we will be exploring our special planet, Earth and its many “hidden treasures”!

We present a 3 day “mini-week” challenge with our escape room as we search for “The
Skeleton Key of Houdini”. Rumor has it that the key is locked in a chest somewhere
inside a spooky manor. Do you have what it takes to find and retrieve the key? We’ll
have to work fast during these three days to be successful!
During our afternoon time together, we will continue a magical theme – with some
surprises along the way!

This is a great chance to get engaged in the community, build leadership skills, and learn to turn a problem into an opportunity!

Take a crime scene and carry it from an investigation to a courtroom verdict with some of our hard-working local law enforcement officers and judicial system officials. A must do for anyone interested in a career involving our law enforcement or criminal justice system.

Join us for an all day camp that is full of activities to expand your imagination through learning skills like sewing, playing a keyboard, and working with clay. This class will be directed by Instructors from Impact Martial Arts of Lexington. Your teenager will learn how to keep themselves safe in public, learn how to defend themselves against grabs, holds, strikes and punches. Students will learn how to recognize dangerous situations and what to do to protect themselves.

Do you ever wish you could make time stand still and keep your 18 month old - 3 year old preschooler to yourself for some precious play time? Would you like to learn how to integrate music and movement into your everyday family life? Take a break from your daily routine and enjoy the opportunity to spend a fun-filled, high energy hour of music and movement WITH your child during Camp Move and Play! You will explore making music with lots of instruments, dancing, singing and, best of all, making beautiful memories TOGETHER! This class is open to 2 adults per child and to anyone who would like to participate with the child - friend(s) or relative(s). Great opportunity for GRANDPARENTS!

Preschool Rocks Through the Classics by highlighting well-known music and children’s literature. Children will be introduced to a classic children’s book each day of camp with fun and interactive activities such as art, movement and games that correlate to the storybook theme . Each book will be paired with classical music that relates to the story as well. It will be a fun week exploring books such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Goodnight Moon and other classics for preschoolers.

Age 4 - Rising Kindergarten
The American Revolution: The Colonies demand Freedom from Great Britain! Learn the events leading up to the "Shot Heard Round the World" to the British surrender. Train the basics of the American Militia, the "Minute Man", Squad Tactics and Gunnery.

How familiar are you with the Dewey Decimal System? What research tools are available at your local libraries? It’s time to find out, because you’ve just been locked inside – and to escape, you’ll need to learn.
July 20-24 | Monday-Friday
Ages 8-14 (1-5 p.m.)
A missing chess piece. A mysterious coffee shop. A jungle full of perilous traps. To find the prize, you’ll need to learn about the rules and history of chess, and match wits against some of the world’s best players.
June 29-July 2 | Monday-Thursday (mini week)
Ages 8-14 (8 a.m. - noon)
Time to get your feet wet! Escaping this underwater adventure will require players to learn some basics of marine biology, the history of scuba diving, and some facts about the world’s oceans.
