Programs with Special Criteria (PWSC)
Competitive-entry programs requiring an additional application and selection process.
Students applying to these programs must first complete the general college admission process before moving to the Special Criteria application process.

AQUARIUM SCIENCE technology
- A two-year (two fall, two spring, one summer term) Associate in Applied Science degree.
- Aquarium Science courses are held during the day at our Davidson campus
- Work-based learning courses are required during three semesters at partnering animal facilities.

Associate Degree Nursing (ADN)
Traditional Option
- A two year associate degree program which leads to becoming a Registered Nurse (RN).
- All classes are held during the day at our Davidson campus location. 100% face-to-face. Remote options are not possible.
- Clinical hours may be held day, evening, weekends, and weekdays.

Associate Degree Nursing
LPN to ADN Option
- A one-year associate degree program (fall and spring semester) for current LPNs to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
- HYBRID program including virtual classes (attendance required), online coursework, and exams administered on the Davidson campus. Students will be required to travel to the Davidson/Davie County service area each week to participate in clinical rotations.
- All prerequisite courses (see packet) must be successfully completed prior to applying to program. (Final grade of a C or higher )
Associate Degree Nursing
Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) Option
- A four-year commitment in partnership with North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University.
- Students will take courses through both Davidson-Davie and NC A&T to earn both ADN and BSN.
- This is a 4-year program and can not be accelerated, regardless of prior completed coursework.

Dental Assisting
- A one-year diploma program (fall, spring, summer semester) which leads to becoming a Dental Assistant II.
- Courses meet in person during afternoon and evening hours at our Davidson campus.
- Program consists of 385 clinical hours.

Practical Nurse Education (PNE)
- A one-year diploma program which leads to becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- All coursework is 100% face-to-face in evening hours with occasional weekends on the Davie campus in Mocksville. Remote options are not possible.
- Clinical hours may be held day, evening, weekends, and weekdays.

Radiography
- A two-year program which prepares graduates to be a Radiographer; a skilled health care professional who uses radiation to produce images of the human body.
- Courses are help face-to-face during the day on Davidson County campus.
- Course work includes clinical rotations to area health facilities, radiographic exposure, image processing, radiographic procedures, physics, pathology, patient care, and management, radiation protection, quality assurance, Anatomy and Physiology, and Radiobiology.
Surgical Technology
- A two-year Associate in Applied Science degree (two fall, two spring, and one summer term) which leads to becoming a Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Program begins every other fall semester with the next available start date fall 2027. Students can begin working on prerequisite courses while awaiting the next enrollment cycle to begin.
- Surgical Technology classes are held during the day at our Davie campus location in Mocksville.
- Clinical hours are typically held during the day on weekdays but are dependent upon clinical site hours.

Zoo Science Technology
- A two-year (two fall, two spring, one summer term) Associate in Applied Science degree.
- Zoological Science courses are held during the day at our Davidson campus
- Work-based learning courses are required during three semesters at partnering animal facilities.

General Information
- All nursing program applicants must score a minimum Total TEAS Score of 62. View the TEAS Detailed Score Report that is required to be submitted with your nursing application.
- Students are welcome and encouraged to apply to Davidson-Davie at any time as a Pre-Nursing student and begin working on any prerequisite courses that may be needed in order to prepare your nursing program application.
- Prerequisite courses vary based on the program and may be taken online, virtual, or in-person at Davidson-Davie. You may also transfer in courses from other institutions by providing official transcripts to our Admissions Office. Transcripts will be evaluated by our Records department for review of credits given. Anatomy courses must be taken at the same university but we will accept anatomy courses from different North Carolina Community Colleges. All prerequisite course final grades must be a C or higher.
- Students cannot miss more than 10% of class, lab, and clinical times. In most cases, this equates to approximately 1-2 days each semester. Students who exceed the attendance requirements will be removed from the program.
- Students must have successfully completed BIO 165& 166 OR BIO 168 & 169 prior to enrolling in any NUR courses.
- Students must be listed on the NA1 Registry prior to enrolling in any NUR courses.
- Students must purchase textbooks and uniforms in addition to paying tuition and fees. Textbooks can cost between $1,000 and $2,000 while uniforms can cost between $150 and $300.
- Class, lab, and clinical times will vary each semester. Students must be willing to attend course sessions as scheduled. This includes day, evening, and weekend hours.
- Students are placed into clinical settings their first semester and must pass the clinical clearance process the summer before they enter the program. This includes providing evidence of vaccination/immunization to several diseases, which may include COVID-19 and influenza. Failure to meet established deadlines will result in removal from the program.
- Reasons such as personal life/work schedules will not be considered when placing students in clinical rotations. Students should be able to attend clinicals anytime they are not in class. Depending on the semester, students may be in clinicals up to 3 times a week.
- Students should anticipate spending 20-30 hours per week studying/completing coursework outside of the scheduled course times.
- Students must earn a B (80%) or higher in their NUR coursework and C or higher in their supportive (BIO, COM, ENG, HUM, PSY) coursework to remain enrolled in NUR-prefix courses.
