NextGen
The NCWorks NextGen program provides structure and a sense of accomplishment for youth in Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin Counties.
The program is designed for youth ages 16 -24 currently in or out of school. Eligible youth have a documented barrier* or are in need of additional assistance to complete an educational program or to secure employment.
NextGen has two main components:
- Education
- Employment

Completion of a secondary educational program is the first and foremost goal. NextGen staff members also provide post-secondary education counseling and career preparation guidance.
*Federally defined barriers include: deficient in basic literacy skills, school dropout, homeless, runaway, foster child, pregnant or parenting youth, youth with criminal background, individual with a disability, English language learner
