This course is designed to introduce students to the proper care and basic grooming of dogs. Course topics will include handling/controlling small animals, coat care, parasite recognition, and skin disorders. Through live demonstrations and hands-on practice you will learn basic techniques such as brushing and combing, blow drying, and nail trimming to professional grooming patterns to take your dog grooming skills to the next level. You will be prepared to enter the field of dog grooming by learning practical grooming techniques and patterns, how to maintain equipment, and how to use these skills at home or possibly toward a job as an entry level dog groomer.
NOTE: A basic grooming kit (approx.$70.00) must be purchased by each student. Ordering information for the kit will be provided to students at the orientation session.
