Davidson-Davie utilizes Starfish as a comprehensive student success system. To facilitate connections between faculty and their students, faculty should update their profile in Starfish. Instructors should also add their office hours into Starfish so that students can easily schedule appointments online and will be more likely to seek assistance when needed. Instructors are also expected to complete progress surveys for students through Starfish at three points during the term.
Instructors should raise flags for students they have concerns about. Faculty who raise flags need to manage their flags in such a way that they, faculty, also resolve the flag at the appropriate time. View the Closing the Loop Starfish video to see how to resolve a flag.
Additionally, faculty should provide positive reinforcement for students who are doing well by raising a Kudos. It is encouraged to provide Kudos not only to the top performers in a course but to students who may have been struggling and have put forth extra effort to improve their performance or bring up a course average.
