Where is the Learning Commons?

The Learning Commons (LC) is located on the first floor of the Grady Edward Love Learning Resource Center, which is often referred to as the LRC.

Does the Learning Commons provide one-on-one tutoring for everyone?

Yes! The Learning Commons provides tutoring in the following ways:

  • Open Lab: Open Lab allows you to drop in during operational hours and get help with your studies. Coaches are available to help answer your questions and provide examples.
  • Appointment-based Tutoring: Our online scheduling tool allows you to schedule tutoring appointments for all in-person and online appointments.
  • Online Tutoring: We provide around the clock online support for students. The scheduler allows Davidson-Davie students to schedule online appointments with Learning Commons coaches and with online tutors after hours. This service is free to you and is recommended for any student who simply needs quality after-hours support.

My instructor told me to make a testing appointment. What do I do?

You can conveniently schedule all of your testing appointments online through our online scheduler. Find the test you need and schedule. Remember, appointments must be made or rescheduled 24 hours in advance.

I need to take a test. Where do I go?

Come to the Learning Commons Welcome Desk at your appointment time and one of our friendly staff members can confirm your test and check you in. For additional details about our Testing Center, visit our Testing webpage.

I didn’t get the help I needed in the Learning Commons. Now what?

Whatever the case, we want to get things back on track for you. Visit our Welcome Desk and speak with a staff member or contact us by email.

I need a quiet place to study, what do I do?

The Learning Commons provides four study rooms for students. Rooms can be reserved at the Learning Commons Welcome Desk. Please remember, it is first come, first served.
