Meet the Coaches
MICHAEL BRANSCOME, JR.
Head Coach
Coach Michael Branscome, Jr. is in his second year as coach for the Storm. He has loved the game of golf ever since he was 5 years old when his father gave him his first club. Michael graduated from Fuquay-Varina High School outside of Raleigh, NC in 1996. While at Fuquay-Varina he participated in both basketball and golf. He played golf 9th -11th grade but did not play his senior year because of an ACL injury suffered during basketball season.
Coach Branscome then moved on to Wingate University where he played Division II college golf with the Bulldogs all four years. He graduated from Wingate University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2000 and a Master of Business Administration in 2003. While at Wingate, Michael met and married his wife of 20 years, Heather, who also graduated from Wingate University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Michael, Heather, and his 3 children – Dylan (19), Emma (17) &
Katie (14) live in Thomasville, NC. Michael and Heather both work for Davidson County Public Schools and their son Dylan is a Junior at Western Carolina University.
Coach Branscome has often said that being a college athlete and college golfer was one of the greatest experiences of his life. He is very passionate about the game and cannot wait to help other young men and women not only continue their education but also have some of the same experiences he did while getting to play the greatest game ever created.
