Road Construction Update
Those traveling to and from the Davidson Campus of Davidson-Davie Community College can expect changes to traffic patterns as part of the highway improvement project in front of our Davidson Campus.
This project will improve access and safety for our current campus and also provide access to surrounding properties for future growth.
Update: June 21, 2024
Beginning the week of July 8, 2024 the southbound Business 85 traffic will shift to the northbound side of the road.
During this phase, northbound traffic (from Lexington) will not be affected and will still exit at Caldcleugh Road but, southbound traffic (from Thomasville/High Point) will need to use the Evans Road detour as the exit directly into the parking lot near Brinkley Gym will not be available.
Detour signs will direct traffic along US 29/70 (Business 85) in the following ways:
Approaching from Lexington and points south of campus
Prepare to make your left-hand turn EARLIER than usual and follow the new detour along Caldcleugh Road. Drive slowly and follow directional signage.
approaching from Thomasville and points north of campus
Use the Evans Road detour to circle behind campus and approach from the other direction on Old Greensboro Road. Drive slowly and follow directional signage.
Returning to Thomasville and points north of campus
You will use the Evans Road detour for the foreseeable future. Drive slowly and follow directional signage.
Returning to Lexington and points south of campus
Use the Caldcleugh Road detour. Drive slowly and follow directional signage.
Most importantly, we urge caution, especially as drivers get accustomed to the new detours and traffic volume is high with the start of the fall semester. Be safe!
