What are the Davidson-Davie Distinguished Service Awards?
All of our employees play a vital role in the lives of our students, serving as role models,
mentors, instructors, and advisors. Their influence on students throughout the educational
process provides direction and skill development that prepares students to meet their goals in life
and find meaningful career paths.
Each year several employees will be honored with Davidson-Davie Distinguished Service Awards. Award
recipients are employees who demonstrate excellence above and beyond their day-to-day
responsibilities, provide an outstanding experience for our students, and offer exceptional service
to the college and community.
What is the nomination and selection process?
Nominations are made by you – and any of your fellow faculty and staff. Who better to help us
recognize excellence in the Davidson-Davie family than our own Davidson-Davie family members! Members of
President’s Council – which represents all areas of the college – will help Dr. Hartness make the
selections. For faculty awards, Faculty Senate will manage the selection process. Winners will be
announced after we return to campus.
What do the winners get?
Well, we really want our winners to understand how proud we are of them. So we’re lining up
some really great prizes, in partnership with local businesses, to include:
- Cash awards
- Recognition plaques
- Dinner with Dr. Hartness, other award winners, and families
- And more!
Ok, so what awards can I nominate someone for or win myself?
President’s Second Mile Award
This award is open to any employee. Award recipients are recognized for putting others before
themselves and providing an exceptional experience for students and visitors on our campuses.
These employees promote a culture of care and compassion and exemplify joy in their work.
Storm Chaser Innovation Award
This award is open to any employee. This award is designed to recognize a professional
disrupter, an individual who thinks differently about their approach to work and our work
environment. An individual who is always looking for new and innovative ways to improve the
way we do business is a Storm Chaser Innovator. This award recipient has a focus of creating an
excellent campus experience as their guiding principle and is not afraid to take risks.
ABCD Support Staff of the Year Award
This award is for a non-teaching staff member who goes above and beyond the call of duty to
support students, faculty, and staff. This staff member’s approach to his/her work makes him/her
unique. The winner will exemplify what it means to provide a quality experience for everyone
we serve and will be Davidson-Davie’s nominee to the system-wide staff of the year competition.
These awards honor faculty members in areas such as mentoring, innovation and service. Winners provide exceptional experiences for our students and help Davidson-Davie attain excellence in the classroom.
