DCCC to Host Polynesian Cultural Event

Davidson County Community College will host Mana Polynesia, a Polynesian music and dance troupe, on Tuesday, September 13 from 11am until 12pm in the courtyard of the Davidson Campus. This event is open to the public.

Directed by Chief Koko Aiolupotea, Mana Polynesia performs an exciting array of traditional and contemporary South Pacific dances from Hawaii and other islands of the Polynesian triangle, including Tonga, Tahiti, New Zealand, Fiji and the Samoas. The group has been featured on the Discovery channel and tours extensively, performing at major festivals, colleges and universities, community and civic events, and corporate functions around the country. Featuring Polynesian music and dance ensembles, Mana Polynesia uses indigenous dancing, precision drumming, and colorful native costumes as vehicles for cultural expression. Their appearance at Davidson County Community college is an ideal way to learn more about the culture, history, and traditions of Hawaii and the islands of the Pacific rim.
