DCCC to Host 33rd Annual Central Piedmont Emergency Services College

Davidson County Community College (DCCC) will continue its role in supporting emergency services personnel and promoting safety in the community by hosting the 33rd Annual Central Piedmont Emergency Services College. The College will provide classes for fire, rescue, and public safety professionals from February 6-12 at the Davidson Campus.

Co-sponsored with the Davidson County Public Safety Association, the program offers a full week of training and has grown each year in course content and variety of classes for fire, rescue, and emergency services. This year’s offerings include 36 classes and organizers expect more than 400 participants.

With an increase in interest and requests for officer level training, courses also include Strategy and Tactics for Initial Company Operations (STICO), Decision Making for Initial Company (DMICO), Building Construction for Company Officers, Fire Officer I & II, Chief 101 & Upgrade, and Incident Command System (ICS) 300 and 400.

“The community college system provides initial and continuing education training for all of our state emergency responders,” says Bryan Knight, Fire Rescue Coordinator. “Davidson County Community College continues to offer this training through many different avenues, including our Central Piedmont Emergency Services College, now in its 33rd year. The week-long seminar offers fire certification classes, fire officer training, leadership, rescue, and EMS classes.”

“It is always exciting to see so many first responders and public safety professionals in one place at the same time during this event,” says Dr. Mary Rittling, President of Davidson County Community College. “We also look forward to our DCCC student participants benefitting from the added value of studying alongside seasoned professionals.”

Event supporters include, Leonard Salvage, Lexington Tourism Authority and Visitors Center, Clark’s Towing and Tire, Sink Farm Equipment, Holiday Inn Express, Thomasville Tourism Commission, and Henderson McGinnis, MD.

The Emergency Services College training courses will be held on the DCCC Davidson Campus located at 297 DCC Road in Thomasville.
