DCCC Students Awarded Golden LEAF Scholarships

August 29, 2019 – During the Summer 2019 semester, five students from Davidson County Community College benefited from scholarships provided by the Golden LEAF Scholarship program for the North Carolina Community College System.

The scholarship program helps North Carolinians residing in rural communities that are tobacco-dependent and/or economically distressed to attend the state’s community colleges and universities.

“The Golden LEAF Scholarship is one of the ways we are able to assist students seeking to further their education at DCCC,” Katina Lee, financial aid counselor said. “We are grateful for partners like the Golden LEAF Foundation that are willing to invest in our students and our communities.”

Recipients may apply the scholarship funds towards tuition, books, fees, supplies, transportation and child care related to attending certain qualifying classes during the academic year. Eligible students must demonstrate financial need and reside in eligible counties as designated by the Golden Leaf Foundation. Scholarships for both occupational and curriculum students are available during the fall, spring and summer semesters.

Students awarded scholarships from DCCC for the summer of 2019 include:

  • Courtney Call of Mocksville
  • Lindsey Clement of Lexington
  • Carri Gordon of Thomasville
  • Tara Harper of Lexington
  • Tori Harper of Lexington
