DCCC Recognized For its Commitment to Student Success
Thomasville, N.C. October 7, 2015 Davidson County Community College is pleased to announce its re-certification as an Achieving the Dream Leader College. This re-certification recognizes DCCC for its commitment to improving student achievement and equality.
In 2011, DCCC was ranked in the top 10 percent of community colleges in the nation and chosen to compete for a new $1 million award from The Aspen Institute. Three years later, DCCC is again being recognized for their commitment to improving student success and equality, and demonstrating measurable gains on important student success metrics. DCCC is considered a leading college that exemplifies the philosophy of Achieving the Dream: lasting change that helps more students achieve their goals.
As a college, DCCC has increased student achievement and made student success central to its mission. During the 2014-2015 school year, DCCC had 1,550 graduates. Graduates earned a total of 600 associate degrees, 217 diplomas, and 1,554 certificates (IPEDS).
President, Mary Rittling states, “Everyone at DCCC understands that students are the central focus in all that we do. The success of our students is what inspires the faculty and staff to work hard each day. We are proud of the Achieving the Dream Recognition and strive to demonstrate our commitment to these values everyday.” DCCC continues to serve as a national leader in the Achieving the Dream National Reform Network that helps more community college students thrive.
