DCCC Administrator Receives Distinguished College Administrator Award

February 17, 2020 – The national Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) will recognize Dr. Margaret Annunziata, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Davidson County Community College, with the Distinguished College Administrator Award during PTK Catalyst 2020, the Society’s annual convention, April 2-4 in the Greater Dallas Area in Texas.

The Distinguished College Administrator Awards are presented to college vice presidents, deans or directors serving at post-secondary institutions who have shown strong support of student success on their campus by recognizing academic achievement, leadership and service among high-achieving students. 

“We are so grateful for Dr. Annunziata’s active participation in the leadership development of our Phi Theta Kappa students,” says Sharon Carter, Professor of Teacher Education and Phi Theta Kappa advisor. “Dr. Annunziata’s passionate support has not gone unnoticed by our students. She provides an excellent example of what it means to get involved with students beyond the classroom.” 

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges. The organization helps students grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 11 nations, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation’s colleges. 

Nominations are taken from colleges throughout the United States. Each year the top 25 administrators are selected to receive the award. This is the first year DCCC has nominated an administrator. Dr. Annunziata is the only recipient from a North Carolina college.
