Davidson Water, Inc. to Choose New Logo Designed by DCCC Student

THOMASVILLE, N.C. … Davidson Water, Inc., headquartered in Welcome, N.C., is one of the nation’s largest member-owned water utilities. Davidson Water, Inc. has 73 employees serving approximately 150,000 people with over 60,000 connections in Davidson, Randolph and Forsyth counties. When the company decided it was time to update their branding with a new logo they turned to Davidson County Community College and issued the challenge to students enrolled in the school’s digital media advertising program.

Recently on the college’s Davidson County campus, six students individually presented their logo designs in front of members of the Davidson Water, Inc. staff and board of directors. The students, McKenna Zubke, Bria Anderson, Ethan Sechrist, Thomas Wagstaff, Chyanne Craver and Destiny Potts, are on track to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Technology Integration, a degree earned in DCCC’s School of Business, Engineering, and Technical Studies.

Each presentation included various versions of the student’s design, including sketches, mockups, prints, and digital renditions.

“These students are pursuing careers as digital design professionals,” DCCC digital media advertising instructor Jeffrey Pubantz said. “This project has given them the opportunity to develop their soft skills in terms of the client and designer relationship.”

The creator of the chosen logo design will remain in contact with Davidson Water, Inc. throughout the process of introducing the new logo publicly.

“The overall goal of this project is to update our look and brand,” said Ron Sink, Davidson Water, Inc. General Manager. “I think a partnership of this type is a win-win for Davidson Water, DCCC, and the community.”
