The Nursing Assistant I course is an extensive state-approved program that includes instruction in both classroom theory and supervised clinical experience. Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to take the NC Division of Health Service Regulation Nurse Aide Registry Exam. The registry listing is required to be employed by hospitals, long-term facilities, assisted living facilities, hospice, medical doctor’s offices and home health agencies.
Students must be 17 years of age on the first day of class.
Required immunizations must be submitted to nainfo@davidsondavie.edu before receiving clearance to enroll.
Class and clinical attendance is mandatory. CPR certification is included in the class and required to be taken by all students, even if they hold a current CPR certification. Labs, clinical times, and locations may vary from your class schedule. You will need to have a flexible schedule. Compromises cannot be made for students who are unable to meet on prescribed dates and times of the course. You may be dismissed for attendance violations from class and clinical.
As a student enrolled in a health care training program with Davidson-Davie Community College, you understand that you must complete a clinical field experience with an outside agency as arranged by the college. You further understand, that your assigned agency or agencies may have requirements that may differ from those of the college and that you must meet these requirements to participate in the clinical field experience. Requirements may include but are not limited to criminal background checks, use of specific personal protective equipment (PPE), and specific vaccinations, including those specifically targeted at COVID-19 and/or Influenza (Flu). Failure to meet these clinical stipulations will prevent you from successfully completing program requirements and will result in your being withdrawn from the program. Conviction of certain crimes under the law may prevent a student from obtaining clinical clearance and/or employment. Davidson-Davie Community College will provide direction on the specific requirements for the agencies that are current at the time of enrollment, but you understand that these may change before you reach the clinical experience. In that event, Davidson-Davie Community College will provide direction on meeting the requirements and suggest opportunities, if any, to meet any updated requirements. The student will not be entitled to a refund beyond the census date.
