The completion of this certificate option prepares individuals for entry-level positions in the medical office with responsibilities in medical reimbursement and processing insurance claims. This course does not train a student to become a Certified Professional Coder.
This course introduces the vocabulary, abbreviations, and symbols used in the language of medicine. Course topics can include but are not limited to the roles and responsibilities of this position, managed health care, life cycle of an insurance claim, legal and regulatory considerations, coding regulations, reimbursement issues, claim instructions, filing commercial claims, insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Workers’ Compensation.
The registration and technology fees for the program are $190.00. The Study Guide and examination fee is $254.40 which is paid at registration as well. Pre-requisite documentation is required prior to registration.
