Discover Your Family History Using Genealogy

Discover Your Family History Using Genealogy

Have you ever watched an episode of “Who Do You Think You Are?” or  “Finding Your Roots” as they reveal a celebrity’s unknown ancestors and their stories and thought  “I wish my family history was that interesting”? The truth is that we all have ancestors that had interesting lives and stories – we just have to discover them. The purpose of this course is to help participants develop the skills and confidence to begin or continue their genealogy research and how to find and piece together tidbits of information from a multitude of resources that will gradually reveal a bigger picture of an ancestor’s life.

DNA testing is another tool that is used to determine a test taker’s ethnicity and find genetic relatives that have also taken DNA tests. The biology of DNA, its structure, and related terminology, as well as how it is transmitted from parents to their offspring will also be covered.
