CCP Information For Parents
FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) provides students with certain rights to privacy of their educational records and rights of access by others to their educational records. College employees are expected to fully comply with this Policy.
When a student is enrolled in a postsecondary institution, FERPA rights transfer to the student, regardless of age. However, if the student is simultaneously enrolled in both a high school and a postsecondary institution, the schools may exchange information about the student. If the student is under 18, parents maintain FERPA rights at the high school level and can review any records sent from the postsecondary institution to the high school.
Students who wish to authorize the release of their college educational records to a parent or guardian can do so by completing the FERPA Consent Form.
Accessibility Services
Students with disabilities are enrolled in the CCP program without regard to their disability. They are held to the same academic expectations and behavior guidelines as any student without a disability. As a student with a disability, they are afforded the opportunity of accommodations for their college-level courses; however, they must voluntarily disclose and provide the appropriate documentation, per Title II ADA guidelines for post-secondary institutions. Since they are dually enrolled, discussions with their EC Staff and/or 504 Coordinators can take place on the student’s behalf; however, it is ultimately up to the student and their parent/guardian if they want to pursue accommodations in their college-level courses.
