Career in a Year Event to Offer Discovery of Fast Track Programs at DCCC

Davidson County Community College will hold “Career in a Year” on the Davidson Campus on April 23, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The event is an information-gathering opportunity for anyone interested in learning how to obtain a meaningful and accelerated education that could lead to career growth in one year or less. Program offerings showcased at “Career in a Year” cover over 20 different focus areas, including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, early childhood education, welding, software and web development, cyber security, masonry, forklift, automotive systems, truck driving, emergency medical technician (EMT), and more. Programs are all able to be completed within one year, and some have terms as brief as six months or less.

“We have found many people believe a four year college education is the entry requirement for most career fields. This event is designed to show other satisfying and fulfilling options exist,” said Jane Birkholz, Dean of Enrollment Services.
Participants will be able to meet with staff and faculty associated with a variety of short-term programs. These fast-track educational options are great for those looking to quickly start or advance in a chosen industry. DCCC courses are often taught by faculty with many years of industry experience as well as academic knowledge; a pairing that helps graduates gain the competitive edge necessary to feel confident in the job market.

The event will be held in the Mary E. Rittling Conference center on the Davidson Campus. Staff will be available to discuss the costs involved with pursuing various programs as well as options on how to pay through financial aid, scholarships, and apprenticeship opportunities. Career Services will be available to assist individuals with assessing options for making a career choice and associated labor market information.

On-site registration for classes will be available for those interested in getting started.
