RN to BSN Options at Davidson-Davie
The nursing industry is changing. The Institute of Medicine recommends that North Carolina increases the number of nurses with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree to 80% by 2025. North Carolina hospitals desiring recognition as magnet facilities now prefer their nursing staff to have bachelor degrees in nursing. Currently, less than 50 percent of nurses in the state meet this new expectation.

Davidson-Davie Community College has agreements with some of the area’s best BSN program schools, including The University of North Carolina system schools, the University of North Carolina – Greensboro (UNCG) and North Carolina A&T (NC A&T).
An articulation agreement is an official contract between two institutions, which allows you as a student to apply credits earned in specific programs at one school toward advanced standing, entry or transfer into a specific program at the other school.
Options
Option 1: NC A&T Agreement
This agreement formed by Davidson-Davie and NC A&T lets you earn two degrees in four years. You will be a dual student at both institutions and earn a BSN concurrently with your Associate Degree in Nursing. You’ll take prerequisite general education and associate degree courses at Davidson-Davie while meeting the course requirements towards a BSN at NC A&T.
Option 2: General UNC Articulation Agreement
Thanks to an articulation agreement between The University of North Carolina and the North Carolina Community College System, which includes Davidson-Davie Community College, applicable Davidson-Davie students can take select courses that will transfer to schools in the UNC system. The agreement applies to Davidson-Davie nursing students who entered the associate degree nursing program in the fall of 2015 and since that time and successfully complete an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and are licensed as registered nurses.
Nursing students must apply and gain acceptance to a four year institution in the UNC system in order transfer credits. Although courses specified as part of the agreement generally transfer, students are encouraged to contact the institution they wish to transfer to in order to verify the specific courses and credits required.

- ENG 231 OR 232 American Literature I or II
- HIS 111 World Civilization
- MAT 171 Pre-calculus Algebra
- MAT 152 Statistical Methods I
- MUS 110 Music Appreciation
- SOC 210 Introduction to Sociology
- SOC 213 Sociology of the Family
Students will complete 30-40 additional credits from a university in the UNC system.
