Spring Break 2022, March 4 – 12

Spend Spring Break visiting London, Oxford, and surrounding areas. This trip will include some pop culture sites along with some historical monuments in and around London.  Participants will get to experience Harry Potter, Jack the Ripper, and Stonehenge more during this 8-day excursion.

This trip is intended for: Students, faculty, staff, and community members who have an interest in British culture, history, literature, or pop culture.

You will experience: In London you will experience some of the most famous sites in the world, including the Tower of London, the Tower Bridge, and the London Eye. There will be day trips to Oxford and Stonehenge. You’ll have an option to take a look behind the scenes with a Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio tour or float down the River Thames on a cruise boat.  There is something for everyone.

Associated Course

All participants must take Humanities 180 for credit or the concurrent continuing education course. The class will meet on Thursday evenings from 6-7:15 p.m. during the first eight weeks of the spring semester of 2022.  The first and last classes will meet face-to-face and the others will meet via Zoom. The class will also meet face-to-face on Thursday, March 17 following the trip for a time of reflection. The cost of the continuing education class will be $49.

$300 deposit due by Sept. 30

After completing your Application Form, you will be directed to pay a $300 non-refundable study abroad fee to the Davidson-Davie Community College business office to secure your spot. Keep in mind that space is limited and once the trip capacity is reached, applications will be closed, so pay your deposit as soon as possible to reserve your seat! Scholarship Info

Davidson-Davie Scholarships: All study abroad participants who have completed at least 12 credit hours at DCCC will have the option of applying for scholarships. Gilman Scholarship: If you receive a Pell grant, you may be eligible for the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship which may cover up to the entire cost of one of the summer programs if you are awarded. Keep an eye on the Gilman Scholarship info page (linked below) for deadlines. Please note: You will have to pay for your trip in full before knowing whether or not you’ve received the Gilman. More information, including how to complete the Gilman Scholarship application.
