The Human Services Technology curriculum prepares students for entry-level positions in institutions and agencies which provide social, community, and educational services. Along with core courses, students take courses that prepare them for specialization in specific human service areas.
Students will take courses from a variety of disciplines. The emphasis in core courses is placed on the development of relevant knowledge, skills, and attitudes in human services. Fieldwork experience will provide opportunities for the application of knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.
Graduates should qualify for positions in mental health, child care, family services, social services, rehabilitation, correction, and educational agencies. Graduates choosing to continue their education may select from a variety of transfer programs at senior public and private institutions.
Virtual
The Human Services program provides a blended learning approach that combines both traditional ways of teaching via virtual labs and online through a series of online educational materials and interactive activities. Please note that those who are pursuing the AAS degree will complete an in-person internship in their last semester. Please see courses specifically for which classes are offered in these ways.
Technology Awareness
A level of technological awareness and access to a laptop or computer is necessary to function effectively for all courses in the human services program. All courses have online components to include but are not limited to using word processing programs such as Microsoft Office or Google Docs, navigating the internet and websites, downloading and accessing documents and programs on the computer, and utilizing virtual software such as Zoom
