Registration Information – Continuing Education Courses

Continuing Education courses are open to anyone 18 years of age and older. Persons 16 to 18 years of age may enroll by submitting a letter from the public school superintendent or principal authorizing such enrollment.

How to Register for a Continuing Education Course

We appreciate your interest in our Continuing Education courses, and we want to make your registration process as convenient as possible. Due to the volume of telephone calls we receive during peak registration periods, callers may experience some delays. In order to expedite all requests, we are offering options for registration as described below. We hope these options will assist you in registering for the courses of your choice.

Register and Pay for Courses Online

You now have the option to register and pay for many Continuing Education courses online.  Select the class you want to register for and pay online with VISA, Mastercard or Discover cards.

Attention Public Safety Personnel: For students registering for the first time in a Davidson-Davie class that may be eligible for a fee waiver contact our registration office directly at 336.224.4545 and provide name, contact info, class information and the public safety agency you are affiliated with.

In-Person Registration

Go to the Business and Records Center (second floor of the Student Center Building) to register. You may pay by cash, check, or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or Discover). Make all checks payable to Davidson-Davie Community College.

Important

Upon admittance into the course, a receipt of confirmation will be mailed. Submitting this form does not guarantee registration until a receipt of a confirmation is mailed from the College.

Third-Party Billing

If your company/department plans to pay your fees, your company/department will need to furnish a signed statement to that effect on company letterhead. The statement may be mailed or faxed to the College. Once the College has received that statement, you may register by phone or in person.

Cancellation/Postponement of Courses

Insufficient enrollment may force a course to be canceled or postponed. Please note that fees are not transferable to another course once the course has started.

Credit

Although Continuing Education courses do not award college credit, CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) are awarded for satisfactory participation in approved courses. The CEU is a nationally recognized acknowledgment of achievement. One CEU is defined as “10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.”

Accommodations for Disabilities

Students who require accommodations due to a documented disability or medical condition should contact the Disability Services Counselor, located in the Love Building, Suite 206, at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the course.

Tax Relief Act

The registration process enables the College to comply with and easily capture the information required under the Tax Relief Act of 1997. The Tax Relief Act includes higher education tax incentives with provisions for the Hope Scholarship Credit program and the Lifetime Learning Credit program.

Refund Policy

A full refund of tuition and fees is granted when the student officially withdraws from a course prior to the first-course meeting or when the course is canceled by the College. Except for self-supporting and contact hour courses (see below), a student who officially withdraws from a course prior to the 10% date of the course will receive a 75% refund, but fees will not be refunded. No refunds are granted for students who withdraw after the 10% date.

Continuing Education Self-Supporting Courses are those courses that rely on fee payments from students enrolled in the course for support of the instructional salaries, supplies, and administrative overhead costs. Since these courses are taught only when a sufficient number of individuals register and pay for the course, no refunds will be granted after the course has begun.

Continuing Education Contact Hour Courses are those courses that have open entry/open exit dates and times. These courses may be offered in learning laboratories or may be self-paced in that the individual progresses at his/her own pace. An individual who officially withdraws from a contact hour course within 10 calendar days after first entering the course will receive a 75% tuition refund but no fees will be refunded. No refunds are granted after this time.
