34rd Annual Central Piedmont Emergency Services College

January 31, 2018 – Davidson County Community College (DCCC) will continue its role in supporting emergency services personnel and promoting safety in the community by hosting the 34th annual Central Piedmont Emergency Services College. The college will provide classes for fire, rescue and public safety professionals from February 5 -11 at the Davidson Campus. Certification classes will provide continuing education credits through the office of the State Fire Marshall, the NC Department of Insurance, and the National Fire Academy.

“It is always to honor to host first responders and public safety professionals from across the state,” says Dr. Mary Rittling, President of Davidson County Community College. A portion of the training offered will address lifesaving measures for first responders. “We are always eager to provide trainings for first responders working to save lives and keep our communities safe.”

Co-sponsored with the Davidson County Public Safety Association, the program offers a full week of training and has grown each year in course content and variety of classes for fire, rescue, and emergency services. This year’s offerings include 41 classes, and organizers expect well over 400 participants.

Courses will include Strategy and Tactics for Initial Company Operations (STICO), Decision Making for Initial Company (DMICO), TR Vehicle Rescue, Instructor I, Fire Officer I & II, Chief 101 & Upgrade, and Incident Command System (ICS) 300 and 400. Additional leadership courses have been added for firefighters that will promote professional advancement.

Event supporters include Leonard Salvage, Lexington Tourism Authority and Visitors Center, Clark’s Towing and Tire, Sink Farm Equipment, Holiday Inn Express, Thomasville Tourism Commission, Fire Rescue Concepts and Davidson Water.

It will help protect community members, property and ensure the responders remain safe,” says Becky Daley, Associate Dean in the school of Workforce, Continuing Education and Academics.

The Emergency Services College will be held on the Davidson Campus of DCCC located at 297 DCC Road in Thomasville.
